Unit 11 - The Moving Light at Split Rock 

In this unit, students become scientists. They observe shadows firsthand and predict and test how different materials interact with light, recording what passes through, partly passes through, or is blocked.

As students work toward the culminating performance task, they invent a character and draft a story that uses their real test results to teach a reader about light and materials. Students revise their story using evidence to explain and predict, then share it with real listeners.
