Unit 1 - We Are First-Grade Ambassadors

In this unit, students begin building a caring, inclusive classroom community by exploring what it means to be a First-Grade Ambassador. Through collaborative discussions, role-playing, and classroom experiences, students discover how their words, actions, and choices can help others feel welcome, safe, and valued. They learn that every member of the classroom plays an important role in creating a positive learning environment.

As students work toward the culminating performance task, they develop a First-Grade Ambassador Guide that teaches new classmates how to be successful members of the classroom community. The guide includes ideas, illustrations, and strategies for welcoming others, solving problems together, showing kindness, and being a responsible classroom leader.
